I mainly created this for imperfection, but it isn’t too obvious to some, so I will elaborate on that. The kiwi and ferret in the image were intended to be an imitation of pen and pencil, and like us humans, ferrets and kiwis make mistakes, same goes with the people using pens and pencils. The pink splotches contain the origins of an accident of my own. It started off when a small piece of pink paint got on my painting, so I took a second look and began making imitations of eraser shavings. I honestly don’t have much to say.
Repetitiveness
I’ve been medically diagnosed with autism, and I decided to make a piece out of the diagnosis, as well as ADHD, as the two can look similar but not always. I chose a rabbit because like a fidget toy, rabbits can be repetitive, and some people with autism and/or ADHD may like that, but not all of them do. The splatters represent the overwhelming feeling that autistic people may feel, whether it’s the environment, sounds, or something else, it can be nerve-wrecking. As for the colors, I chose complementary because I’ve been oblivious of using them over the years, and the rabbit is white because I want it to be the main focus. The grass was supposed to be sine waves, but it doesn’t look like it, does it?
Populations
This work is a little different, as it was made digitally, unlike my other works, which were traditionally made. Each of these scientific notations make 1 googol, which is 100 zeroes after the 1. I chose to use googols because each googol represents a population, and the different appearances symbolize humanity in different ways. The floral appearance on the first googol is for the population of those who happen to be in places where plants are most commonly stereotyped, like in Brazil, for example. The cacti and desert on the second googol represents the population of those living in more dryer places (not that dry), such as certain countries in Africa. The third googol symbolizes those who believe in heaven, like Christians. The fourth googol is intended to connect with caretakers and caregivers of dementia patients, hence the more simplistic appearance, in which it represents memory loss. The fifth googol symbolizes general humanity, and how love is love, which is why it’s in an (almost) rainbow array of colors. The sixth and final googol has sea animals arranged in an opposite array lineup, representing people who are closeted due to homophobia, transphobia, etcetera. Lastly, the background was intended to be a galaxy, but I gave up trying to give it visuals beyond the stars.
